Care Packages They Won’t Forget

Guest Post:

If your soldier or military spouse has been deployed a long time and you feel like you’ve sent care package after package after package, you may feel like you’re running out of ideas. Here are a few ideas to perk up your uninspired care packages.

Keep It Personal

Sure, you can buy those ready-made ones online that you have delivered to your military loved one, but they lack personality. It may require more thought and effort, but it will be returned in appreciation, gratitude and love when your carefully put together package is received.

Make sure you always include a card or a letter in the package, as this way they can reread it whenever they want, and even if it’s just about your everyday life, they will love to have a glimpse into your day. Send photos, pictures that the kids have drawn, anything that they can pin up or put on display to add a personal touch to where they are living.

Send The Old Favourites

If there is a certain snack that your loved one enjoys, be sure to send them too. Food on deployment can be terrible at times so a little reminder that real food does still exist might be greatly appreciated. Board games, cards, DVDs, water guns and silly things will help your loved one relax and have fun during their little downtime.

The Essentials

Items like a pillow, a pair of socks, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, other army surplus items and toiletries will always be welcome as they aren’t always provided!
