I usually turn the news off when the boys are in the room but last night, I could not get to the remote quickly enough when the news of the guy in CA came on. In case you’ve missed it, he is predicting the end of the world tonight at 7:00.
7 year old, Bob, immediately began to panic. I had to creatively explain why he need not worry.
1) It is highly unlikely that the guy is right. I mean, if the prediction was right on, wouldn’t our rabbi have told us?
2) If it does happen, we are good people and we’ll all be together anyway.
3) If it does happen, then the good news is that Daddy’s deployment will end early and he’ll be back with us!
Today, every time I mention something we are doing in the future, little Bob says, “probably, Mom. Remember?”
I’ll be happy when it is 7:01 and my innocent boy gets his childhood back.
Thanks a lot, CA guy.
